Our Story: The Garage Roots
It started with a cracked crash cymbal and a dream. Our founder, Mike Reed, began repairing kits out of his parents' two-car garage in the suburbs. What was initially a hobby for a local gigging drummer soon became a hub for the entire town's rhythm section.
By 2005, the garage could no longer hold the volume—both literal and figurative. The Drum Shop moved to our current flagship location, expanding from a repair bench to a 5,000-square-foot showroom that stocks everything from vintage snares to the latest in electronic percussion.
Today, we serve touring professionals, studio legends, and the next generation of kids picking up their first pair of 5As. Our commitment remains the same: treat every drummer like they're headlining the arena tonight.

Mike specializes in vintage restoration and high-end acoustic kits. He’s played for three decades across the Midwest.
